چکیده

Medical image registration [1] plays an increasingly important role in many clinical applications including the detection and diagnosis of diseases, the planning of therapy, the guidance of interventions and the follow-up and monitoring of patients. The primary goal of image registration is to find corresponding anatomical or functional locations in two or more images. This has many applications: Registration can be applied to images from the same subject acquired by different imaging modalities (multi-modal image registration) or at different time points (serial image registration). Both cases are examples of intra-subject registration since the images are acquired from the same subject. Another application area for image registration is inter-subject registration where the aim is to align images acquired from different subjects, e.g. to study the anatomical variability within or across populations. While rigid registration has become a widely used tool in clinical practice, non-rigid registration has not yet achieved the same level of clinical acceptance. Much recent progress has been made, however, in developing improved non-rigid registration techniques. In this article we will illustrate some of the advances which have been made over the last decades. We will discuss some of the theoretical aspects of non-rigid registration and describe methods for their implementation. Finally, we will illustrate how common problems in medical imaging, such as motion correction and image segmentation, can be solved using image registration.

بهبود سرعت "انطباق مبتنی بر روش برش گراف" جهت انطباق غیر صلب تصاویر تشدید مغناطیسی مغز

Image processing methods, which can visualize objects inside the human body, are of special interests. In clinical diagnosis using medical images, integration of useful data from separate images is often desired. The images have to be geometrically aligned for better observation. The procedure of mapping points from the reference image to corresponding points in the floating image is called Ima...

Compensation of brain shift during surgery using non-rigid registration of MR and ultrasound images

Background: Surgery and accurate removal of the brain tumor in the operating room and after opening the scalp is one of the major challenges for neurosurgeons due to the removal of skull pressure and displacement and deformation of the brain tissue. This displacement of the brain changes the location of the tumor relative to the MR image taken preoperatively. Methods: This study, which is done...

Optimized co-registration method of Spinal cord MR Neuroimaging data analysis and application for generating multi-parameter maps

Introduction: The purpose of multimodal and co-registration In MR Neuroimaging is to fuse two or more sets images (T1, T2, fMRI, DTI, pMRI, …) for combining the different information into a composite correlated data set in order to visualization, re-alignment and generating transform to functional Matrix. Multimodal registration and motion correction in spinal cord MR Neuroimag...

An Efficient Approach with Zernike and Ant Colony Optimization for Image Registration

Image registration is one of technique that enables us to join two images to form a single image. Its applications lie for general photography, medical imaging etc. Nowadays, medical image registration plays a vital role for diagnosis. So, we have rigid and non-rigid images that need to be registered properly. None of single method can work as generalized for image registration. In the current ...

A Novel Subsampling Method for 3D Multimodality Medical Image Registration Based on Mutual Information

Mutual information (MI) is a widely used similarity metric for multimodality image registration. However, it involves an extremely high computational time especially when it is applied to volume images. Moreover, its robustness is affected by existence of local maxima. The multi-resolution pyramid approaches have been proposed to speed up the registration process and increase the accuracy of th...
